Four days is enough for Kyrgyzstan if you spend them well. This one keeps Bishkek as its base and goes out twice: west into Ala-Archa, where the pines start almost at the city limit and the ridge line does the rest, and south to the Chunkurchak gorge, where lunch is served in a yurt and the afternoon is spent on a horse. In between there is the capital itself, flatter and greener than most people expect, and the Osh Bazaar, which turns out to be the best hour of the trip for almost everyone. The Central Mosque is a few minutes from the main square, prayer times are built into each day, and the food is halal throughout.
A yurt lunch, a horse, and a gorge an hour from the capital. Kyrgyzstan asks very little of you and gives back a great deal.

Arrival, the bazaar and a first meal
Met at Manas airport and taken straight to the hotel for an early check-in and a few hours to reset. In the afternoon, lunch at Supara, where the guide fills in the history, then the Osh Bazaar for honey, dried fruit and a dozen things you have not tried before. Dinner at a local teahouse.

Ala-Archa, and the capital in an afternoon
A morning in Ala-Archa National Park: an hour and a half on foot among the pines with the ridge standing over you, and a cable car up if you want the panorama. Trout after the walk, cooked the way it is cooked here. Then Bishkek itself, at an easy pace: Ala-Too Square, Oak Park, the Central Mosque and the Orthodox church a few streets apart.

The gorge, on horseback
Out to the Chunkurchak gorge, stopping at the Sky Bridge for the view back down the valley. At the Supara Chunkurchak complex lunch is national cuisine in a yurt, and the afternoon is a led ride along the mountain trails at a pace a first-time rider can enjoy. Time afterwards to walk the grounds before the drive back.
