Kashmir needs less halal arrangement than almost anywhere on this list, because the valley is overwhelmingly Muslim and everything is already built that way. The butcher is halal, the wazwan is halal, and the Hazratbal shrine on Dal Lake and the wooden Jamia Masjid in the old city are working places of prayer, not monuments. The route gives you two nights in Srinagar with a shikara on the lake, then a day up to Sonmarg, the Meadow of Gold, with the option of a pony to the Thajiwas glacier. A night at Gulmarg, where the gondola is the highest in Asia. A night at Pahalgam by way of the saffron fields at Pampore. Then back to Srinagar for the Mughal gardens and a final night on a houseboat on Dal Lake, which is the thing everyone remembers.
The last night is on a houseboat on Dal Lake. It is not a gimmick. It is the way this valley has received guests for two hundred years.

Arrival, and a shikara at dusk
VIP meet and greet at Srinagar airport, a welcome hamper of saffron and dry fruit, then check in and a two-hour shikara ride on Dal Lake in the late evening. Kehwa on arrival.

The Meadow of Gold
A three-hour drive to Sonmarg for a full-day excursion: alpine meadows below the snow line, with the option of a pony up to the Thajiwas glacier, Zero Point and the Zojila pass.

The Meadow of Flowers
A full day at Gulmarg, and the Gulmarg Gondola, the highest cable car in Asia, up towards Kongdoori and Afarwat at 4,200m. Snow sledging, tube rides and horse riding in season.

Saffron fields, then the Lidder
Three to four hours across the valley to Pahalgam, with the saffron fields of Pampore and the apple orchards on the way, then Aru and Betaab valleys by union cab.

The Mughal gardens, and a houseboat
Back to Srinagar for the Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi gardens with a private guide, the Tulip Garden in season, and Shankaracharya hill for the sunset. Then aboard a houseboat on Dal Lake for the night.

Breakfast on the water, free time until departure, then the transfer to Srinagar airport.
